Meet Your Primary Care Provider: A Little About Me
Hello! My name is Jason Barney, and I’m a doctoral-prepared Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Wayne State University and went on to complete my Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at Grand Valley State University. I’m passionate about primary care and building lasting relationships with the patients I have the privilege of caring for.
I strongly believe that healthcare should be preventive, personalized, and collaborative. My approach is to look at the whole person rather than simply treating an individual symptom or diagnosis. I work closely with my patients to develop a complete plan of care that addresses their current health concerns while also focusing on prevention and long-term health.
Patient education is an important part of my practice. I want my patients to understand their health, know why we are recommending certain treatments or screenings, and feel comfortable being involved in decisions about their care. I also believe that, when appropriate, nutrition, lifestyle changes, exercise, and evidence-based supplements can be valuable components of an overall approach to wellness.
Outside of work, I’m a strong believer in staying active and making exercise part of everyday life. I wake up early each morning to exercise, and I enjoy riding my bike and exploring local trails. I also value spending time with my wife, our two children, and our dog.
I’m a huge sports fan and enjoy watching just about every sport. You can often find me cheering on the Detroit Lions, Red Wings, Pistons, and Tigers. I’m also a very big University of Michigan fan!
I’m excited to be part of your healthcare journey and look forward to getting to know you, understanding your health goals, and working together to help you achieve them.
I look forward to meeting you!
